The Kristi Jones Podcast - A Spa day escape at The Spa at La Costa
Relaxing by the fire in the waiting room prior to my spa treatments.

Who doesn’t love a good spa day am I right?? I like to think of myself as a spa-researcher….is there such a thing? I say… yes, there is, and I consider myself an expert at spa-ing. Maybe I just created a word, but truly, that doesn’t matter because I am excited to share with you about this awesome place. Last week, I enjoyed a spa day at The Spa at La Costa and figured right before the busy holiday week was a good time to do a little spa research. Located in Carlsbad, California you will find this blissful escape for a spa day located within the Omni Hotel and Resort. If you come for just the day, the moment you arrive and the valet takes the keys to your car, you have stepped into pure bliss. Walking up to the entrance of the spa is so tranquil and peaceful. It gets even better once you step inside the oasis of The Spa at La Costa.

Once you check in, the spa attendant will greet you in reception area, give you a tour of the spa facility and get you settled into your locker area, robe and shoes. If you have any questions during your spa day, the spa attendant is the person to ask. They are there to assist you and make sure your spa day is all you had hoped for. The locker area is roomy and still close to the private spa areas such as the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool sauna. The entire spa is over 40,000 square foot of indoor and outdoor space. It never feels crowded even during a peak time of day. One of the things I like about this spa is the spacious sauna and steam room. It is very large and you don’t feel cramped if other people are in the space too. Located close to the locker room is the private relaxation room. This relaxation room has a fireplace and comfy chairs which is a cozy place to curl up in with a book.

The larger relaxation room is coed and where you wait for your therapist to greet you prior to a treatment. In this room, you will find the hot tea, water and other refreshments as you sit and listen to the water fountain in the adjacent courtyard. Located just outside this lounge is the spa cafe as well as the outdoor pool, Roman waterfall showers and a reflexology stone pathway that you must walk for a unique experience. All that “spa-ing” is hard work and can make you hungry. I love that I can keep my robe on, messy hair and all and eat wonderful, healthy food at the spa cafe right within this beautiful retreat. You can dine at the umbrella covered tables at the cafe or poolside, whichever you choose. The servers and attendants are quick to greet you and take your order. The raspberry thyme Bellini is my favorite beverage to have poolside while waiting for lunch to arrive.

Each month the spa offers spa promotions which can be easily found on their website. The monthly promotions offer a variety of services for a slightly lower price so it’s a good list to check out before you book your treatments. The spa menu offers a variety of body treatments, massages, and facials. A few of my favorites are the custom massage, tranquility of jasmine body treatment which includes dry brushing, and the kypris beauty facial.

I admit, if there is the sound of water, I am instantly in chill mode. It is hard to walk around this Omni property and not pass by a fountain or water feature. The sound of trickling water is soothing and the landscaping is always flourishing with flowers. There are even lemon trees around the property! This is the perfect time of year to enjoy a spa day, curl up with a magazine by the pool or by the fireplace inside and enjoy some peace and quiet time as we begin a new year. To book directly with the spa, I will put the link to their website below.

Lounging poolside after a massage is the best feeling ever! Trust me, it is hard to get up and leave The Spa at La Costa. I prefer to finish off my time here sipping on hot tea, in a comfy robe and in my “post massage hairstyle” aka seriously messy bun. It is such a great way to enjoy a west coast winter day while soaking in some December sunshine.
